Colombia    KIDNAPPED BISHOP FREED
The Maoist-inspired People's Liberation Army (EPL), Colombia's third main guerrilla group, released a bishop it kidnapped more than one month ago.
Monsignor Jose de Jesus Quintero, Catholic bishop of the northeast oil town of Tibu, was freed in Norte de Santander close to where he had been abducted, news reports said.
Neither the motives for the original abduction nor the conditions of his release were clear. The bishop had been kidnapped by leftist rebels in the past and accused of collaborating with right-wing extremists that also operate in the zone.
