Vatican     POPE STRESSES TREATMENT OF ELDERLY
Stressing the need to respect human life, Pope John Paul II said yesterday that the elderly must be treated with dignity and love.
The Pope, at his general audience in St. Peter's Square, welcomed participants from a convention at a Catholic university in Rome studying ways to combat euthanasia.
John Paul told the group that he hoped the meeting would help spread the message that the ``inalienable rights of the human being'' must be respected, including those in the ``evening'' of their lives.
