East Timor     'IT WILL TAKE YEARS TO RETURN TO NORMAL': BISHOP OF BACAU
Five UN ambassadors met with Bishop Basilio do Nascimento of Baucau while visiting East Timor on the weekend. The bishop, who was wounded by a machete, said "It will take years before we return to normal."
Meanwhile the head of the Protestant Church in East Timor Francisco de Vasconcelos Ximenes, was killed on Sunday, with a gun-shot to the head, on the road between Dili and Baucau. The pastor was taken from the Hosanna Church of Dili where he was sheltered with about one hundred worshippers and executed in cold blood. This follows the killing on Saturday night of the East Timor Director of Jesuit Refugee Service, and the death several days earlier of the head of Caritas East Timor.
