Indonesia    ESCALATION OF ATTACKS ON CHURCHES
An investigation conducted by an Indonesian magazine reveals an explosion in the number of religiously motivated attacks, almost invariably initiated by Muslim extremists.
    The magazine "Beginikah" sayd there were only two attacks on churches in the ten year period 1955-65, while there were 132 in the ten years from 1985. There annual average has now risen to 52.
    The religiously motivated attacks more frequently on the islands of Ambon, Seram and Sana.
    Muslim leaders regularly condemn the attacks on Christians, which are the responsibility of fanatics.
