Kosovo Crisis     HEAD ENCOURAGES DOMINICANS TO HELP KOSOVO REFUGEES
After visiting Dominicans working in Albania, the order's Master Fr Timothy Radcliffe has written to all its members to encourage them to become involved in helping refugees suffering as a result of the Kosovo crisis.
He said: "Do everything you can to ensure that those [refugees] who are looking for a new home are welcomed, treated with dignity, and helped to remake their life."
He also urged them to use the order's intellectual charism to "do everything possible to support the dialogue with our Orthodox brothers and sisters."
The now flourishing Jesuit Refugee Service grew out of a similar heart-felt plea by that order's former Superior General Fr Pedro Arrupe, during the Indo-Chinese refugee crisis in the early 1980s.
