|India||CHURCH LEADERS CALL FOR RESTRAINT AMID BORDER TENSION|
Church leaders in India have called for restraint as tension continues to rise between India and Pakistan following recent Indian air strikes on alleged Pakistani intruders in Jammu and Kashmir state.
Deputy Secretary General of the Indian Catholic Bishops' Conference Fr George Pereira, said the Church hopes India and Pakistan will undertake peace talks since neither people wants war.
Father Denis Borgess, assistant provincial of the Pune Jesuit province, said "all problems cannot be solved politically, but friendship should be given a chance through peace missions led by religious leaders of both countries."
