Kosovo Crisis     POPE IN KOSOVO CRISIS TALKS WITH KOFI ANNAN
John Paul II requested a personal interview with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, which is taking place at lunchtime today Rome time.
    From the outset, the Holy See has condemned the Milosevic regime's ethnic cleansing, as well as the NATO air attacks. The Pope's diplomatic endeavours have included the promotion of meetings of pontifical legates with Slobodan Milosevic, letters to US President Bill Clinton and NATO Secretary General Javier Solana, and consultations with religious leaders from areas affected by the war.
