Kosovo Crisis     SERB BISHOP FLEES KOSOVO
Bishop Artemije, head of Kosovo's Serb Orthodox Church and outspoken critic of President Milosevic, fled with nine priests yesterday in the face of an angry mob of Kosovars.
Dejan Krstic, a young Orthodox theologian, said: "We just want guarantees for our safety. Neither the KLA nor the Nato peacekeepers will give us any assurances. The border is open now and we don't know what kind of killers might cross into Kosovo."
The Church's Holy Synod issued a plea saying: "We appeal to our brothers in Kosovo to stay in their homes and not to leave their relics."
But Serb officials say 80,000 Serbs have already fled Kosovo, with virtually none left in the south.
