India    MOTHER TERESA'S CANONISATION PROCESS GATHERS MOMENTUM
Mother Teresa's canonisation cause is moving ahead, after her Missionaries of Charity congregation has formally petitioned Calcutta Archdiocese and set a date to initiate proceedings.
A petition dated last Friday requests Calcutta's Archbishop Henry D'Souza to initiate an inquiry into the life, heroic virtues and reputation of holiness of Mother Teresa, who died in Calcutta almost two years ago.
UCA News reports that the opening session of the local inquiry will be a public event, and is scheduled for 26 July, the feast of Saints Anne and Joachim, when all involved will take an oath to do their job well and swear themselves to secrecy.
