Kosovo Crisis     SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH CALLS FOR DISMISSAL OF MILOSEVIC
The growing disenchantment within Yugoslavia towards President Slobodan Milosevic is spreading to the Serbian Orthodox church.
The first indication of the political fall-out for President Milosevic occurred yesterday, with the resignation of one of the key elements in the Serbian Government. The 15 ministers, members of the ultra-nationalist Serbian Radical Party, resigned in protest at developments in Kosovo.
Now the independent Beta news agency is reporting that the synod of the Serbian Orthodox church has issued a statement demanding the dismissal of the President.
Although some archbishops have criticised Milosevic's internal and foreign policy, this is the first time that the influential Serbian church has openly demanded that he go.
