Prominent Catholic Aboriginal activist Vicki Walker has called on the Australian Catholic Church to ensure genuine Aboriginal participation in the Great Jubilee.
In an address delivered to the National Conference of Diocesan Jubilee Contacts in Sydney last week, Ms Walker said Aboriginal people had been given a mandate by the Holy Father to make their contribution to the Church through their own unique cultural practices and spirituality.
"It was a clear direction from the Holy Father and it's not too late. The Jubilee could mark a new beginning, a new commitment of reconciliation from Australain Catholic Dioceses," Ms Walker said.
