Sri Lanka    CHURCH DENIES USE OF RADIO VERITAS FOR TAMIL FOR REBEL PROPAGANDA
Church authorities in Sri Lanka have denied a report that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE)'s clandestine radio, Voice of Tigers (VOT), had linked up with the Church's Manila-based Radio Veritas to broadcast LTTE propaganda.
UCA News says the report, attributed to an unnamed senior officer in the Sri Lanka Army, appeared in local newspapers on 25 May.
The officer was quoted as saying that "a coordinating center of LTTE Tiger Radio and Veritas was established on May 2 at St. Sebastian's Church, Mallavi (in Jaffna diocese)."
The allegation was immediately denied by Father Cyril Gamini Fernando, national director of the Sri Lankan bishops' National Centre for Social Communications.
