Lima's Archbishop Juan Luis Cipriani called on artists and communicators to "occasionally bite their tongues" in order to avoid offending human dignity.
During the Sunday celebration of the Catholic Church's World Day of Social Communication, the Archbishop called on communications media and artists to respect the "message of faith, the dignity of women and the value of the family or patrimony."
Let us make a serious effort to conduct communication, music or any genre of art against a backdrop of respect for human dignity and Christian values, he said.
Addressing communicators and artists from television and popular music attending the mass, the Archbishop said that if their inspiration "crosses the line a little," it is better that they "bite their tongues."
