USA    NUNS FINANCE ELDERLY CARE CENTRE WITH 'PAY FOR PRAY' SCHEME
An annual donation to a scheme run by the Salesian Sisters in New Jersey will ensure that a sister will pray for the investor every day.
The scheme has quickly raised $A2 million for the sisters, and it has allowed them to build a new home to care for the order's elderly sisters.
They have suggested a minimum annual donation of $A150, but most participants have given considerably more. The donors come from all sectors of society, with some serving prison sentences.
"We have people from all walks of life in the programme who are lonely or need somebody to pray for them," said Sister Mary Rinaldi, who has the title Director of Development.
