Kosovo Crisis    WE'VE ALL HAD A HAND IN THE WAR: CLOISTERED NUN
The Kosovo war "is a conflict we have all had a hand in", according to Abbess Anna Maria Canopi, founder of the 'Mater Ecclesiae' Benedictine monastery on the island of Santa Giulia in northern Italy. She said that "prayer for all those who are suffering is as effective as aid and arrives sooner."
"We believe that prayer is the most effective way because it asks God for help, he who is all powerful. But prayer is effective, if it is coupled with giving one's life, as in our case," the Abbess said.
In statements published by the news agency VID, Abbess Canopi explained that war "is always unacceptable from the Christian point of view, that is why we want peace and well-being for all the belligerents."
And the Abbess gave a reason for the war. "What happens loudly among nations, deep down is caused by what nests in the heart of each person. In a certain sense, we all have a hand in wars, because were are not humble, patient, loving, forgiving and welcoming."
