MINISTER SAVES YOUTH SUICIDE SERVICE
The important work of the Centacare Youth Suicide Prevention Program will continue beyond 30 June following the approval of an $80,000 recurrent grant from the SA State Government.
    Centacare Director Mr Dale West described the decision by Human Services Minister Mr Dean Brown as "crucial for the continuation of important strategies towards perventing young people taking their own lives".
    "During the last 15 months of operation we have trained 449 professionals, and provided 239 consultations for primary intervention," he said.
    Each year in Australia, 400 of the 2400 people complete their suicide attempt are aged between 14 and 25 years.
