|Vatican||PAPAL CONSULTANT CALLS FOR "MORE RADICAL FEMINISM"|
The Pope yesterday appointed Norway's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Jaane Haaland Matlary, as consultant to the Pontifical Council for the Family.
Matlary told the Press: "The time has come for a more radical feminism, based on the recognition of the fact that the majority of women are mothers or would like to be."
She distinguished her "radical" feminism from feminism she describes as "extremist": "The feminism of the 70s tended to negate maternity and to imitate men. This has been an obstacle to the development of feminine qualities and contributions, as well as to the application of policies which would really help women."
