|Ireland||UNION BAN FOR RELIGIOUS TEACHERS|
Although there is a scarcity of teaching nuns, brothers and priests in Irish schools, the Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland has voted to continue banning them from joining the union.
The ban has been in force since the ASTI was founded 90 years ago. It was argued that religious were so numerous they could sway the outcome of a vote.
