One of the key figures in the open revolt against the leadership of Sonia Gandhi -- president of the Congress party and widow of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi -- that has "stunned" Congress members and the nation on the eve of national election has been revealed as a "devout" Catholic.
    Catholic World News reports that P.A. Sangma, a Catholic and senior leader of the Congress party, along with two other Congress leaders, wrote an open letter to Sonia (an Italian Catholic who married Rajiv Gandhi in 1968) Saturday night telling her bluntly that "it is not possible that a country of 980 million people with a wealth of education, competence, and ability can have anyone other than an Indian head the Indian government."
