Up to 1000 people are expected to attend a public forum to discuss the Vatican's Statement of Conclusions at Sydney Town Hall on 22 April. Church group Catalyst for Renewal has organised the forum, saying it is aimed to resolve confusion abouit the Statement from Rome which criticised aspects of the Australian Church.
    Catalyst for Renewal spokesperson Fr Michael Whelan said the forum is meant to offer public support to Australian bishops and allow a discussino of the challenges the document poses for the Australian Church. "It is an event of solidarity... We are absolutely swinging behind [the bishops] and supporting then and taking what I believe is a very adult and responsible stance in terms of the Church in Australia."
   The forum will be moderated by ABC presenter Geraldine Doogue. Guest speakers will include Bishop Brian Heenan of Rockhampton, NSW Religious Institutes Conference President Sr Annette Cuncliffe RSC, and NSW Community Services Commissioner Mr Robert Fitzgerald.
