Australian Catholic University will award an honorary degree of Doctor of the University to the Governor General, Sir William Deane, at its Sydney graduation ceremony next Thursday (8 April).
    The award to Sir William will be in recognition of his extraordinary; contribution to the Australian community. His outstanding commitment to reconciliation and other social justice issues is particularly relevant to the mission of the university.
    Other ricipients of honorary doctorates this year will be Dr John and Dr Evelyn Billings, and Emeritus Professor Rosemary Goldie AO.
