Indonesia CHRISTIANS DISAPPEAR FROM CABINET POSTS

The Jakarta Government recently announced a new cabinet that omits all the Catholic ministers who served in the previous cabinet. Among those replaced are longterm Soeharto aides, Benjamin Murdani (defence), Johanes Baptista Sumarlin (finance), Cosmas Batubara (manpower), and Benediktus S. Mulyana (national development planning). Two senior Protestant ministers in the last cabinet are also gone. The Christians have been replaced by Muslims, and Lt. Gen. Ida Bagus Sudjana (mines and energy), the first Hindu to hold a cabinet post in 25 years.
