|East Timor||PAPAL NUNCIO CALLS EAST TIMORESE TO WORK FOR PEACE||
Apostolic nuncio to Indonesia Archbishop Renzo Fratini has called on both sides of the conflict in East Timor people to forgive each other.
"Without peace, it is hard for justice to flourish, and without justice, it is impossible for peace to prevail," Archbishop Fratini told some 5,000 Catholics, 50 priests and 150 nuns at a concelebrated Mass at Dili's Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Cathedral last week.
"Pope John Paul II, who sends his warm greetings to Catholics and all people of East Timor, has prayed that peace and justice prevail in this land. Therefore, all East Timor people should work for unity and peace so common interests could be realised," the nuncio said.
Archbishop Fratini said he understands that East Timor is divided because of political views, but differences in political views should not lead to violence that causes the loss of life and property.
