Marist Brother plans surrender to face abuse allegations
An elderly Marist Brother will co-operate and surrender to police in Canberra in response to allegations of child abuse spanning three decades.
The Australian reports Br John Kostka - who is in his late 70s - will leave his retirement home in the NSW southern highlands and turn himself into Australian Federal Police after he was accused of sexually abusing 11 students in Canberra where he used to teach.
Br Kostka's lawyer, Greg Walsh said they will be co-operating with the police investigations despite not knowing the specific intentions of the AFP.
"It is as plain as the nose on your face that my client is going to be arrested when he presents in Canberra," Mr Walsh said.
Marist College in Canberra has been issued with notifications from 11 clients who are prepared to sue the school claiming Br Kostka sexually abused them.
