Herald-Sun reports scrutiny on Adelaide priest
The Melbourne Herald-Sun reported yesterday that Fr Tony Pearson has been stood down by the Adelaide Archdiocese pending an investigation.
Fr Pearson has been in charge of the Aboriginal Ministry in the Archdiocese. For some years, has lobbied to the Federal Government on behalf of Afghan asylum seekers.
The paper reports that the investigation is being conducted by ASIO, and that it concerns "hundreds" of pornographic images allegedly found on Fr Pearson's laptop.
The Herald-Sun has also published an image of a man carrying an assault rifle in Afghanistan, whom it suggests is Fr Pearson.
