50,000 pilgrims to be blessed in Melbourne's Telstra Dome
Melbourne's Telstra Dome has been announced as the venue for the Commissioning Mass for an expected 50,000 pilgrims who will attend Days in the Dioceses on 11 July 2008.
Usually reserved for AFL matches and rock concerts, the indoor-outdoor venue will be used to bless pilgrims who will be preparing to make their spiritual journey to Sydney for WYD.
Melbourne's Archbishop Denis Hart, who will celebrate Mass with 200 other clergy, says Telstra Dome is the perfect choice for a Mass of this significance and scale.
"The Mass will be the highlight of the Melbourne Days in the Dioceses program and forMelbournians and international pilgrims the Telstra Dome is a world-class facility and logical choice for our Commissioning Mass." Archbishop Hart said.
World Youth Day Melbourne chief, Brother Mark O'Connor says he is confident pilgrims will enjoy the convenience and accessibility of the
