WYD Cross and Icon appear at Schoolies Week

The World Youth Day Cross and Icon are heading back to Queensland later this week, for Schoolies' Week on the Gold Coast.

The Catholic Leader reports that the two symbols will be displayed at St Vincent's Church, Surfers Paradise during Mass at 10.30am tomorrow morning, with three hours set aside as a personal prayer opportunity.

A prayer gathering will then take place at John Laws Park, Burleigh Heads at 6pm.

WYD08 secretariat member Donna Longland said she hopes parishioners, parents and teachers attend the events and pray for the safety of the schoolies.

Tomorrow at 2pm, the Vinnies Youth Crew will host a "peace celebration" near Cavill Avenue.

They will lead a procession back to St Vincent's, where the Cross and Icon will be waiting.

During the three day stint the World Youth Day Cross and Icon will also visit a Gold Coast hospital and the nearby Boystown facility.
