Vatican delegation arrive for WYD

A five-person Vatican delegation is in Sydney this week to review preparations for World Youth Day 2008.

Archbishop Stanislaw Rylko leads the delegation from the Pontifical Council for the Laity (PCL), the body that oversees World Youth Day preparations and promotes the initiative around the world.

The PCL will visit WYD08 event sites and meet Australian Catholic leaders, dignitaries and Government officials.

"We are pleased to host the PCL delegation and hope they will be pleased with our planning to date," WYD08 Coordinator Bishop Anthony Fisher OP said.

"The visit coincides with a three-day, international WYD08 conference featuring more than 200 delegates from 100 nations.

Applications now open for the World Youth Day Vocations Expo

Organisers of World Youth Day 2008 (WYD08) opened exhibitor applications for the Vocations Expo to be held in Sydney during the World Youth Day week of events, 15 - 20 July 2008.

The Vocations Expo is a central component to each World Youth Day, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about religious vocations within the Catholic Church and engage with young adults that are dedicated to their faith.

"The Vocations Expo is a vital element of World Youth Day 2008," said Bishop Anthony Fisher OP, World Youth Day 2008 Coordinator.

"With up to 500,000 young people on a pilgrimage to witness their faith, we want to ensure that their questions about vocations will be answered.
