Vatican dream wedding for happy couple
A young woman's dream of getting married at the Vatican has come true.
After 15 months of planning, Englishwoman Samantha Wheeler married Tim Palmer in The Choirs Chapel at Basilica of St Peter's.
And, as the icing on the cake, the happy couple were blessed by Pope Benedict, the Express and Star newspaper reported.
The couple's priest, Fr Patrick Daley, of St Peter and St Paul Church in Wolverhampton, had written to the Pope for special permission to allow the marriage to take place at the Vatican.
Fr Daley was then invited to perform the wedding ceremony.
The couple and their 100 guests had to pass strict security checks.
Following the wedding the couple returned to the Vatican after four days to have their union blessed by the Pope along with other married couples.
"To meet the Pope was just unbelievable," Mr Palmer said.
"I was totally stunned. He shook both of our hands and then he blessed Samantha. It was an incredible moment."
