World Mission Day celebrations

World Mission day will be celebrated this Sunday, October 21, by Church services around Australia.

The services will reflect on the work of mission and also the contribution of young people who are in involved in missionary activities.

Pope Benedict has called on the "People of God" to reflect on the role of the Church's missions.

"I ask the bishops, priests, men and women, religious and lay to reflect together on the urgency and the importance of the Church's missionary activity also in our day," the Pope said.

"We are all missionaries, all sent by the Lord to be His witnesses in every moment of our life."

The Catholic Mission is calling on the community to celebrate World Mission Day by making a donation. The money raised will help thousands of communities in 160 countries around the world.

Donations can be made by calling 1800 257 296 or their website.
