Australian art auctioneer remembered
He was credited with pioneering Australia's modern art boom almost singlehandedly.
During a lifetime handling tens of thousands of art works, Dwyer became renowned as one of the most knowledgeable - and trustworthy - experts in the country.
The Age reports that Dwyer was a committed Catholic who was well known for moral integrity in a world with "more than its fair share of cheats and swindlers".
It said that while some auctioneers are hardly paragons of virtue, Dwyer's honesty and integrity were never questioned.
