Chinese Catholic to be deported to face trial

A Chinese Catholic man living in Australia is to be deported to face trial on kidnap and murder charges in China.

The Herald-Sun reports that he is currently recovering in a Sydney hospital after swallowing razor blades.

Refugee advocates claim there are doubts over the man's identity and that he could face execution.

Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews rejected their concerns.

The man is known as Mr Qi. He has been held in detention for four years since his visa was revoked.

Mr Andrews said there are no doubts as to the identity of Mr Qi, who is the subject of an Interpol red notice.

It is only fair that he face justice in China, provided he is not executed.
