Primary schools break records for faith knowledge
Results of the Sydney Catholic schools religious education test have soared to their highest level since the introduction of the test nine years ago.
The Catholic Weekly reports that average scores in the Year 6 test reached 79.5.
Schools executive director Br Kelvin Canavan said: "Student results have increased each year, with this year’s average nearly 12 per cent higher than it was in 2002."
He added that the steady improvement in religious knowledge and literacy reflects the commitment of teachers and principals to instruct the students in the essentials of the Catholic faith.
