3,000 young people ready to give all
Over 3000 young adults at a festival in Loreto, Italy, stood up on Monday to say they're ready to become priests or religious.
Zenit reports that the rally gathered about 100,000 youth from the Neocatechumenal Way. This was a follow-up to the weekend visit of Pope Benedict to the Agora Festival there.
The meeting included a procession of about 1000 priests and a reading of the Gospel. The leaders invited those who believed they had a call to the priesthood or religious life, and 2000 young men and 1200 young women came forward.
Cardinal George Pell of Sydney was inspired by the rally. He invited the youth to engage in a similar event for next year's World Youth Day.
