Sofia's family dismayed over new revelations
Revelations that Surrey police failed to charge the UK born murderer of Perth schoolgirl, Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia Shu, after arresting him in 2001 have dismayed Sofia's parents.
Dante Wyndham Arthurs pleaded guilty recently to the murder of an eight-year-old Catholic schoolgirl Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia Shu in Perth last year.
A British press report in Surrey says 22 year old Dante Wyndham Arthurs pleaded guilty to the murder, which sent shockwaves through Australia.
Australian police are reportedly angry that British police failed to charge the Arthurs after arresting him in 2001 on suspicion of harming a 12 year old British schoolgirl.
Family priest in Perth, Fr Brian Gosling, said Sofia's parents were unimpressed with the British police.
He told the media: "Sofia's father Gabriel is dismayed and angered about these new revelations of the 2001 assault on a little girl in England."
The shock has been especially felt in the quiet Perth suburb of Canning Vale where eight-year-old lived and went to school.
Her naked body was discovered by her 14-year-old brother on 26 June 2006.
