Sydney brother on trial over 70s abuse
Marist Brother Ross Murrin yesterday faced a Sydney court on 21 charges of indecent assault against male students dating back to 1974.
ABC News reports that the lawyer for a former Sydney Catholic school teacher says his client will plead guilty to some of the 21 charges.
The 52 year old is accused of indecently assaulting eight male students in 1974, at a Daceyville school in south-east Sydney.
He appeared in Waverley Local Court. The case has been adjourned until early next month and Murrin has been granted conditional bail.
Outside court, lawyer Greg Walsh, spoke of his client's plans.
"Some of the charges - on my instructions, he'll be entering a plea of guilty," he said. "Obviously, Brother Murrin will at the appropriate time indicate his views about these matters to the court."
