Sri Lankan Catholics protest maid's death penalty
Catholic organisations are mobilising to request clemency for a 17 year old Sri Lankan Muslim maid.
UCA News reports that 19 year old Rizana Nafeek was sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia after a baby died in her care.
Caritas in Sri Lanka has been campaigning on behalf of Rizana. Human Rights Watch is also calling for clemency.
Last Friday, thousands of people attended special prayers in mosques, temples and churches in the Sri Lankan city of Kandy.
