Greens join Randwick exit chorus

The NSW Greens have joined the racing industry in calling for World Youth Day celebrations to be moved from Randwick Racecourse.

Greens MP Lee Rhiannon said the racing industry already in difficulty following the spread of equine influenza in NSW.

But the State Government is flexing its legal muscles.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Government has made it clear they are the legal owners.

And a World Youth Day spokesman stressed that access to Randwick is an issue for the State Government, who is the owner of the site. He said the Australian Jockey Club is only a tenant.
