Abbott to address Christian Democratic Party

Federal Health Minister Tony Abbott will be a keynote speaker at tomorrow's annual convention of the Christian Democratic Party.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Abbott, a fervent Catholic,
will give a speech entitled "life in federal politics". He told the
Herald yesterday there was nothing untoward about addressing other
political groups.

"It's not who you talk to, it's what you say," he said.

A letter from the Prime Minister, John Howard, would also be read to
the convention.

Both the Government and Opposition are conscious of courting Christian
voters, with both John Howard and Kevin Rudd last week taking part in
a nationwide Christian webcast.
