Stem cell bill takes us down a slippery slope

Today a Senate committee will begin hearings in preparation for the reconsideration of Parliament's unanimous decision in 2002 to ban therapeutic cloning. In 2002, the majority of our politicians supported experimentation on excess IVF embryos but all opposed the deliberate creation of human embryos only for destruction and experimentation. Some scientists now want a relaxation of the universal ban. There is no turning back once we cross the moral contour prohibiting creation of human life only for experimentation and destruction - Fr Frank Brennan
