Wodonga "guys and dolls" go Broadway

Backed by a seventeen-piece orchestra, Wodonga Catholic College students are this weekend presenting the classical musical production, Guys and Dolls.

The Border Mail reports that the fast-paced musical comedy tells the story of well-meaning gamblers, chorus girls and a Salvation Army band who suffer from their antics among nightclubs in seedy New York backstreets.

Wodonga Catholic College vice-principal and play director Tony Patton said the production was an ambitious project.

"The music is very challenging, but we have a strong group of performers, supported by a seventeen-piece orchestra, who can really handle the demands," he said.

"The students have been rehearsing since the beginning of term two and are ready to put on a great performance."

"It's sweet, sentimental, romantic and very funny," he said.
