Chappell, Border, Boon in chaplain's new Ashes challenge

Baptist Minister, Dr Mark Tronson, long-time chaplain to the Australian Cricket team, has announced the recruitment of several former Test cricketers including Allan Border, David Boon, Greg Chappell and Kim Hughes to the editorial board of his Cricket Ministry newsletter.

The next issue of the Retired Australian Cricketers bi-annual newsletter, which is published on 30 March and 30 November, "could be an Ashes exclusive," says Dr Tronson who has been Australian Cricket chaplain for 22 years.

According to Dr Tronson, his regular Chaplain's Chat creates a spiritual challenge to ensure that cricketers "carefully weigh the true values of life in the light of an all consuming national passion."

Now in its seventh year the Cricketers newsletter's editorial team is Allan Border (Qld), Phil Emery (NSW), Jason Bakker (CV), David Boon (TAS), Greg Chappell (SA) and Kim Hughes (WA).

"Eight years ago Reverend Barrie Sutton the then Victorian Cricket Chaplain and I met with Cricket Australia and then the Australian Cricketers Association," Dr Tronson recalled, resulting in "an innovative expression of Australian Cricket Ministry".
