Report says Kidman free to wed in Catholic Church
Nicole Kidman has been told she will be granted an annulment of her marriage to Tom Cruise, allowing her to remarry in a Catholic Church in Australia.
Kidman's family had held discussions with a Catholic priest about the arrangements for her wedding to country singer Keith Urban, The Herald Sun reports.
The couple looked deeply in love when they were seen hand-in-hand in Nashville on Wednesday, much to the delight of fans. They laughed and chatted together while shopping in the country music capital.
Canon law does not allow divorcees to remarry. But Herald Sun's source said a priest had told family members Kidman, who divorced in 2001, and Urban could still have a church service.
It is believed Kidman has been told she will be granted an annulment of her marriage to Cruise because it did not conform to the requirements of the church.
But a spokeswoman for Kidman yesterday called the report "nonsense".
"I don't know of a date and I still don't know if there is even going to be a wedding," she said. "I've never been told by Nicole that she is actually engaged. If and when she marries again, I'm sure she will make some sort of announcement."
Kidman and Urban have been dating for the past year, but publicly confirmed their relationship only when they attended the Grammy Awards together in February. Urban recently confirmed on a US radio show that he and Kidman called his Tennessee ranch their home.
The pair has been rumoured to be planning a wedding at Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel, North Sydney.
