NSW Premier's invite to Rome for WYD event
Cardinal George Pell has invited Premier Morris Iemma to Rome for a special ceremony related to Sydney's staging of World Youth Day in 2008.
If Mr Iemma makes the trip in early April, he also will hold discussions with Youth Day organisers and could meet the Pope.
Sydney is expected to spend $20 million protecting two of the world's most famous Catholics - Pope Benedict XVI and Mel Gibson - at World Youth Day in 2008.
More than 250,000 believers are expected to descend on the city in a bonanza estimated to deliver $110 million to the state's economy.
Cardinal Pell is taking 50 children to Rome to participate in the Youth Day ceremony.
