Cathedral requiem for Van Nguyen
The body of convicted drug smuggler Van Tuong Nguyen will be returned to his home town of Melbourne on Sunday ahead of a funeral at the end of next week.
The Australian reports that long-time family friend Fr Peter Hansen will preside over the bilingual requiem mass at Melbourne's St Patrick's Catholic Cathedral.
Nguyen's mother Kim began making funeral arrangements two weeks ago before flying to Singapore to visit her son, it was reported.
90 minutes after this morning's execution, Nguyen's body will be collected from Changi Prison.
It is believed the 25-year-old's remains will return home on the same flight as his mother and brother on Sunday, the paper said.
Nguyen's body is likely to be returned to his Melbourne home on Sunday and his funeral held at the city's St Patricks Catholic Cathedral at the end of next week.
Long-time family friend Fr Peter Hansen will preside over the bilingual Requiem Mass.
Fr Hansen, parish priest of Craigieburn, north of Melbourne, said it has been important for many people to show their sympathy.
"The pain will only just be a beginning," Fr Hansen told the ABC.
