Josephites to involve young
The Sisters of St Joseph will involve young people from all walks of life to work in partnership with them - some as Sisters, and others in Josephite lay groups.
According to a statement released yesterday, the program was endorsed by 60 Josephites from Australia and New Zealand who met in Baulkham Hills, Sydney, from 3-7 October.
The meeting led by US Benedictine Sisters Anita Lowe and Mary Frances Schafer considered new ways of making their mission known.
Sr Pat Malone, a member of the Congregational Leadership Team, said the Sisters are aware of the need for hope in today's world.
"They believe in the desire of young people for spirituality and for involvement in works of justice and compassion," she said.
The Josephites intend to open up avenues for young people so that they can put this desire into action.
The dream of Blessed Mary MacKillop was that Josephites would "never see a need without doing something about it."
Josephites today continue to work with people in need, in Australia, New Zealand and other overseas countries.
