Wiggles urge followers to 'bring Good Stuff to Vinnies'

CLICK HEREWorld renowned children's entertainers The Wiggles this week launched a TV, radio and press campaign to encourage Australians to bring their "good stuff" to "help Vinnies' good works".

A Vinnies statement says that Wiggles Anthony, Greg, Jeff and Murray had some good quality clothing and household items they didn't need anymore, and decided to take them to a Vinnies Shop.

"Australians donate their second hand items to Vinnies every day and the Wiggles are no exception, urging the public to give by asking, 'What can you give to Vinnies today?'"

Vinnies says its shops need women's men's and kids clothes and accessories, books, manchester (including linen and curtains), household goods such as crockery, glass and bric a brac items and in some stores furniture.

It says these items need to be in good condition - "good stuff", in the words of The Wiggles.

"As summer is coming it would be great to receive all those good quality summer clothes that are in your wardrobe but no longer needed!"

Vinnies Shops, which rely on donations from the community, are the best known of the St Vincent de Paul Society's good works. The sale of donated goods at Vinnies Shops goes a long way to helping disadvantaged people through family support, homeless services, women's and family refuges, care of the mentally ill, youth support and many more services.

The statement says Vinnies Shops don't just sell things, but they are an important contact point for people who need help from the Society.

There are over 620 Centres of Charity in Australia staffed and run by a large contingent of dedicated volunteers. In NSW/ACT alone, there are over 8700 volunteers. Vinnies Shops rely heavily on these men and women from local communities who generously give of their time in order to maintain its service and help assist people in every area of need.

A full list of Vinnies Shop locations can be found at www.vinnies.org.au, or in the White Pages under 'St Vincent de Paul Society.' Donations of goods and clothing can be made at your nearest Vinnies Shop.
