Catholic Welfare Australia seeking nominations for Awards

The peak body representing Australia's Catholic welfare agencies has called for nominations for it 2005 Awards, which aim to recognise the work of member organisations, and individuals working within the social services sector.

Catholic Welfare Australia executive director Frank Quinlan said that the Awards, now in their fourth year, are designed to give attention to outstanding people, organisations and programs "working tirelessly, and often quietly, to achieve a better life for vulnerable, marginalised and disadvantaged Australians".

"These Awards are not about competition, they are about telling the untold stories - highlighting innovation, excellence and leadership," he said.

There will be three Awards on offer. Two will be exclusively for Member Organisations, the Award for Excellence in Service (Organisational) and the Award for Most Innovative Program - The Norma Parker Award. The third Award, the Award for Excellence in Service (Individual) - The Perkins Award is open to ALL workers within the social services sector.

All nominations must address the Award specific selection criteria as well as illustrate how the nominee lives out the mission of the Catholic Church by putting into practice the core values of Catholic Social Teaching.

Three finalists in each category of the Catholic Church Insurances-sponsored awards will be announced on Wednesday 12 October. The winners will be announced at the Annual Conference Dinner one week later.
