No more updates on Pope's health crisis

The Vatican Press Office has said that it will not issue further medical updates on the Holy Father's health, because his health crisis is over.

The statement said that he will continue his recovery at his apartment overlooking St. Peter's Square.

The 84-year-old was released from the hospital this week and returned to the Vatican, two-and-a-half weeks after surgery to insert a tube in his windpipe to ease his second bout of breathing problems in a month.

The Vatican is hosting a busy schedule of Holy Week services that begins in three days, with Palm Sunday, and culminate a week later on Easter Sunday.

Associated Press says some had hoped the Vatican would shed more light on the pope's condition and provide clues to his long-term outlook.

Catholic News Agency reports that Pope John Paul made a surprise appearance at the window of his Vatican apartment yesterday and gave numerous blessings to people gathered in St Peter's Square below.
