Modern day Dominican prophet visiting Australia

Fr Timothy Radcliffe, an English Dominican Friar who was Master General of the Order for ten years until 2001, is delivering a public lecture in Brisbane tonight on the "Crisis of Truth Telling in our Society".

While international head of the Dominicans, Fr Radcliffe was renowned as one of the most articulate and forthright of the leaders of the major religious orders.

Tonight's lecture takes place at the Australian Catholic University's Banyo campus. ACU Brisbane Theology School Head Fr Gerard Hall SM said the lecture would be an "opportunity for people to hear a modern day prophet".

"Fr Radcliffe offers a deeply spiritual insight into the challenges of our world," Fr Hall said. "He blends a genuine commitment to the Gospel with a true love for the Church and a refreshing openness to the movement of the Spirit in our own times," he said.

Fr Radcliffe's knowledge and insight into the New Testament is reflected in his presentations and writings. He is a frequent contributor to The Tablet and other International Journals.

The lecture, which is open to the public, will take place in the Main Auditorium (Lecture Theatre IB.15) at 7:30 pm.
